We are currently taking applications for our 2 week season of BARE at the Brisbane Powerhouse. 

 

BARE: The Musical

Audition Brief 

 

Submissions are to be made only via email to casting@understudyproductions.com Please submit headshot and CV.

 

Auditions February 28th 11am  Call backs Tuesday 6th 11am

SUBMISSIONS CLOSE: February 21st midnight 2018

Successful applicants will receive appointment times no later than 5 days prior to auditions. Self tapes for the initial round will be accepted if the artist is currently away form Brisbane.

Successful applicants will be asked to provide 2 45-90 second cuts of songs similar to the style of the show (one upbeat, one slow). Please do not bring anything longer. If successful at the auditions you will be required to learn material from the show for the call backs.

Jason (Lead): Male - 18-28

St. Cecilla's senior class golden boy; handsome, charming, popular jock with a sweet side; Peter's secret boyfriend; Nadia's twin brother; closeted, questioning, scared; must be able to believably play a high school senior; Peter's roommate and best friend. Pop Bari-Tenor Belt. Potential partial nudity but not compulsory.

 

Peter (Lead): Male - 18-28

Jason's clandestine boyfriend, roommate and best friend; introspective, sensitive, loyal and kind - friend to all;  must be able to believably play a high school senior. Pop Tenor Belt. Potential partial nudity but not compulsory.

 

Ivy (Lead): Female - 18-28

Pretty, popular girl envied by others; can get any guy she wants without even trying; inside is insecure, with a need to be loved; Nadia's roommate and arch rival; the object of Matt's obsession; must be able to believably play a high school senior. Soprano Belt. Potential partial nudity but not compulsory.

 

 

 

 

Nadia (Support Lead): - 18-28

Jason's twin sister, sings “Plain Jane Fat Ass” rebel with sardonic, caustic wit; Ivy's roommate and arch rival; cynical and fearless; must be able to believably play a high school senior. Pop Soprano Belt.

 

Matt (Support Lead): - 18-28

Hard working academic and athletic rival to Jason; despite his best efforts, always comes in second; obsessed with Ivy; somewhat awkward socially; must be able to believably play high school senior. Tenor Belt.

 

Sister Chantelle (Support Lead): 25-60 This role will preferably be played by a person of colour. St. Cecilia's no-nonsense drama teacher, doubles as the Virgin Mary in Peter's alcohol-induced hallucination; underneath the sass and clever quips, she possesses a kind heart and an open mind. Mezzo/soprano, must be comfortable riffing/vocal ad lib and gospel singing.

 

Lucas (Support): - 18-28

St. Cecillia's fun loving purveyor of altered reality, a dealer, rap skills a plus(for the song “Wonderland”); comedic bad boy of the group; must be able to believably play a high school senior. Baritone.

Lucas's girlfriend, backup singer to Sister Chantelle; must be able to believably play a high school senior. Soprano.

 

Kyra (Support): - 18-28

Sexy student, backup singer to Sister Chantelle; must be able to believably play a high school senior. Alto.

 

Dianne (Support): - 18-28

Naive, ever cheerful; needs comedic timing; must be able to believably play a high school senior. Alto.

 

Rory (Support): - 18-28

Sarcastic; must be able to believably play a high school senior. Soprano.

 

Zack (Support): - 18-28

Jock, not the brightest bulb; must be able to believably play a high school senior. Baritone.
